Miami Arts Studio is a brand new mega magnet program in Miami-Dade County. The incoming 6 and 9th grade students come from all over Miami-Dade County with the vision of becoming leaders in their hopeful magnet strand. For the first year we had over 1,000 applicants for 300+ seats during the 2015-2016 recruitment period. The audition process is a talent-based process, with the exception of a few strands that are interview and portfolio driven.
MAS 6-12@Zelda Glazer is one of the newest and most exciting Magnet Programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Zelda Glazer Middle School (ZGMS) opened its doors in 2008 with only 17 teachers and 248 sixth grade students. It was a first of everything for all of those that were here to experience it. Our second and third year expanded with seventh and eighth grade respectively. Now we function with all three middle school grades and average a student body of more than 1500 students and a staff that passes 76.
We are a Title 1 School, and have had the distinction of being an A school since our inception. Our feeder pattern is John S. Ferguson SHS. The school mascot is a wizard and the school colors are silver and royal blue. We are a mandatory uniform school, which means that all students attending ZGMS must wear a uniform to school.
Our reputation for excellence, combined with our limited space, means that the Miami Arts Studio 6-12 will be the example program throughout West Kendall. To apply, you must first complete the online application at http://yourchoicemiami.org/magnet-applications (Deadline was 1/15/2017).
