North Italia Restaurant by Ray Raposo

While visiting Brickell City Center three of us wandered over to Mary Brickell Village. We found this North Italia restaurant, walked in, checked the interesting and not expensive Menu and decided to try it.

The large bar near the front of restaurant

The modern decor and vibe was very inviting. There’s a large bar near the front with a couple of TVs. They offer some different types of seating, from tall chairs & tables to cozy booths. It was relatively early, and for a Saturday night not too busy; so we were seated right away.

The central part of restaurant

Their Menu is an interesting combination of Italian dishes with a twist. Small Plates (appetizers), Salads, Pizza and Fresh Pasta, from Spaghetti & Meatballs to Burrata Tortelloni to Bolognese on Tagliatelle. Entrees offer several different choices. From Grilled Bass to Braised Short Rib to Roasted Chicken or Beef Tenderloin, there’s something for all tastes.

The salad split in half to share
The different calamari

We had the Crispy Calamari with arugula which was quite different than the usual calamari, very tasty indeed. Also the Simple Salad with farm greens, baby tomato, toasted pine nut and gorgonzola vinaigrette. So don’t expect the usual Italian by-the-book dishes, they seem to add their own spin to most dishes.

The salmon dish

My main dish was the Roasted Salmon with pesto faro with caramelized cauliflower, broccolini, lemon gremolata and saba. It was very good, again cooked and presented with their own twist.

Wagyu Skirt Steak with asparagus

Another in our party tried the Wagyu Skirt Steak with asparagus, sweet potato, salsa verde, arugula and grana padano. He had no complaints as he cleaned his plate.

Miguel and Carmen, they enjoyed the wine and their dishes

Two types of wine a red Malbec and a white Riesling, which come in 4 or 8oz. sizes by the glass were ordered and enjoyed. They offer a full bar.

The delicious dessert

We finished with a delicious ice creme topped dessert. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Most prices are in the teens and mid 20s for the Entrees.

Writer Ray and his main dish

The restaurant, which is quite large was full by the time we were done. Overall a very enjoyable time and meal.
