A group of ten friends went to dinner at Pekaditos last Friday. The menu is a fusion of Peruvian and Puerto Rican dishes served with an artistic flair.
The Menu is quite varied in the types of meats and side dishes they serve. Everyone enjoyed the different dishes from Lobster, Salmon, Mahi-Mahi, Masitas de Cerdo, Lomo Saltado, and sides of Mofongo, Mashed Potatoes, plantains or tostones. The Mahi Mahi with mashed potatoes and fried plantains I had was excellent. All the dishes are served artistically on clean white dishes. They offer a variety of wines by the bottle or the glass to go with your meal.
The service was quite good and the prices were even better. Most dishes were in the teens and some in the low 20s. The place isn’t huge, but big enough and they have a small ceviche bar area as well.
The live entertainment on this night was provided by a lady singer and her two companions. They put on a fun show from 9PM to after 11PM on Fridays and Saturdays taking turns playing music from around the world. Besides singing along, some of us got up and danced during some songs. The music is never too loud to blast your ears as in some other local places.
If you’re looking for a great time and good food at quite reasonable prices, don’t miss this Peruvian/Puerto Rican flavored Restaurant on the Tamiami Trail (SW 8th Street) just west of the Florida Turnpike Extension.
We ended up having such a great time that three from the group returned for lunch a few days later and we are planning on returning for Karaoke night on an upcoming Thursday.
